The Full Story
At Flourish Enrichment, we believe children thrive when learning is meaningful, hands-on, and tailored to who they are.
Flourish was created to bridge the gap between traditional education and the kind of learning that truly engages students—where curiosity is encouraged, strengths are celebrated, and every child has the opportunity to grow with confidence.
Our Why
Flourish began not just as an idea—but as a response to a very real need both of our founders experienced firsthand.
Brandy's Story:
As a parent, I watched both my daughters work incredibly hard to keep up in a traditional classroom setting. They were bright, capable, and full of potential—but the way they learn didn’t always match the way they were being taught or interacted with.
One (diagnosed with Dyslexia and Dysgraphia) struggled with reading comprehension, keeping up with notes, and recalling math facts quickly. While she learns best through listening, hands-on experiences, and verbal expression, much of her day required silent reading, fast-paced writing, and memorization. Over time, this led to frustration and anxiety—especially in subjects like math.
My other daughter (diagnosed with selective mutism and sub-threshold symptoms of autism) struggled to build relationships with peers and teachers. She was ambidextrous and constantly told by staff that she was writing letters incorrectly. She struggled to read out loud in front of peers or spell in front of teachers (hence the selective mutism).
What was even harder to see was how well she masked those struggles. From the outside, it often looked like she was doing fine. We were constantly told from the school that she did not appear upset and was never a behavior problem. But at home, the overwhelm, complete meltdowns, self-doubt, and exhaustion told a different story.
I realized she didn’t need to be “fixed”—she needed an environment that understood her.
She needed:
-
More time and space to process
-
Teaching that engaged how she learns best
-
Support that built confidence instead of pressure
-
Opportunities to show what she knows in ways that felt natural to her
And I knew she wasn’t the only child who felt this way. In fact our partner founder had many more experiences with her own family. And as we built a community we found that more and more parents were experiencing this.
Flourish Enrichment was created for students like all these kids—students who are capable and intelligent, but need a different approach to truly thrive.
Flourish began with a powerful realization:
many students are capable, creative, and eager to learn—but don’t always thrive in conventional classroom settings.
We saw the need for a program that:
-
Supports different learning styles
-
Reduces unnecessary pressure and frustration
-
Creates space for students to build confidence and independence
-
Brings joy back into learning
From that vision, Flourish Enrichment was born.
About Our Founders
Stella
Stella, co-founder of Flourish Enrichment, brings a wealth of experience, insight, and compassion shaped by both her professional background and her journey as a mother.
She holds a Master’s degree in Special Education and has spent the past 16 years homeschooling her six children—many of whom share similar learning differences and challenges, including more complex needs in areas such as learning and peer engagement. This firsthand experience has given her a deep understanding of what it takes to support children not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well.
In addition to her work at home, Stella has years of experience providing small group tutoring, where she has walked alongside families navigating the traditional school system. Through these relationships, she has heard countless stories from parents whose children were not being met where they were—academically, developmentally, or emotionally. These experiences reinforced what she had already come to believe: there is a better way to support children in learning environments that honor their individual needs.
In addition to her work with children and families, Stella has a deep-rooted passion and sense of calling to mentor and support young adults as they transition into the next stage of life. She is especially committed to helping those who may feel uncertain, overlooked, or unprepared as they enter the adult world. Through guidance, encouragement, and practical life-skill development, Flourish Enrich seeks to equip young adults with the confidence, independence, and direction they need to thrive. Her heart for this age group reflects her belief that support shouldn’t end in childhood—every individual deserves the opportunity to step into adulthood with purpose, capability, and a strong sense of belonging.
Stella’s background also includes studying overseas in France, an experience that broadened her perspective on education, culture, and learning. She is a published author who deeply enjoys the writing process and values creativity as an essential part of both education and personal growth.
Beyond her work with Flourish, Stella serves on the board of Autism Vision, a community dedicated to supporting families, children, and young adults with autism. Her involvement reflects her ongoing commitment to advocacy, connection, and creating meaningful support systems for neurodiverse individuals.
Stella’s heart for families, combined with her experience and vision, plays a vital role in shaping Flourish Enrichment into a place where students are truly seen, supported, and given the opportunity to flourish.
Brandy
Flourish Enrichment was co-founded by a licensed Special Education and Elementary teacher with a deep passion for helping all students succeed—especially those who don’t always fit within traditional educational models.
Throughout her career, she has worked in both public and charter schools and some homeschool enrichment programs, supporting a wide range of learners with diverse academic and developmental needs. While these experiences provided valuable insight, she often found herself feeling out of alignment with the rigid structures and constraints teachers were required to follow—limitations that made it difficult to truly meet students where they were, no matter how much a school preached they did this Brandy found that they always fell short of this when it came to the day to day with students struggling in the classroom.
At the same time, her most important perspective came from home.
As a parent, she watched her own daughters—bright, capable, and eager to learn—struggle in a system that didn’t reflect how they learned best. Challenges with reading comprehension, note-taking, and math fluency led to frustration and anxiety, even as they both worked hard to keep up. Like many students, they masked their struggles during the school day, leaving the true weight of it to surface at home.
This dual perspective—as both an educator and a parent—made one thing clear:
the issue wasn’t a lack of ability. It was a lack of fit.
She knew there had to be a better way.
Flourish Enrichment was created to provide that alternative—a place where students are seen, supported, and taught in ways that align with how they learn best. Drawing on her background in special education, she has built a program that emphasizes hands-on learning, flexibility, and a deep respect for individual learning differences.
During her time in college, she worked closely with adults with special needs—an experience that profoundly impacted her perspective and ignited a lasting passion for supporting individuals who face challenges in learning, daily life, and relationships. These early experiences, combined with her military background, instilled in her both the discipline to build something meaningful and the compassion to ensure it truly meets the needs of those it serves. This foundation continues to guide her work today, driving her dedication to creating environments where every individual feels supported, capable, and valued.
Both their visions are simple but powerful: to create an environment where students not only learn, but gain confidence, feel understood, and truly flourish.
