Colorado Law for Homeschooling
Evaluation & Testing Requirements:
Colorado homeschool students must demonstrate academic progress in:

3rd Grade

5th Grade
-
7th Grade
-
9th Grade
-
11th Grade
Option 1: Standardized Achievement Test
Students may take a nationally standardized achievement test.
Option 2: Academic Evaluation
A qualified evaluator may review the student's work and determine whether the student is making sufficient academic progress according to their abilities.
Who Can Complete a State-Recognized Evaluation?
Colorado law defines a "qualified person" as one of the following:

A Colorado licensed teacher

A teacher employed by an independent or parochial school

A licensed psychologist
-
A person holding a graduate degree in education (Master's degree or higher)
Evaluations completed by a qualified person are fully recognized under Colorado homeschool law and may be submitted in place of standardized testing.
